The Newlywed game for two
Six questions. Half about you, half guessing about them. The mismatches are the fun part.
The Newlywed game is the classic “how well do you actually know each other” test, cut down to the two of you. Each round deals six questions. Three ask about you, three ask you to guess what your partner will say about themselves. You answer on your own phone, then the answers flip over together.
Nobody has to be in the same room. Answer on the bus, they answer after work, and the reveal waits until both of you are done. Points go to the guesses your partner accepts, and every round feeds the running scoreboard for your room.
How to play
- 1Start a room, send your partner the link, and pick Newlywed from the shelf.
- 2Answer your six questions. Three are about you (the truth), three are guesses about your partner.
- 3Lock in. You cannot see their answers until you have submitted yours.
- 4Judge the guesses about you: a tap for right, a tap for wrong. Close enough counts if you say it does.
- 5Points land on the scoreboard. Play another round; questions do not repeat for a month.
Why couples like it
- The mismatches are the funny part. “You said my comfort food is ramen?” is a better conversation than any right answer.
- It is quick. A round is five to ten minutes, which is the right size for a weeknight call.
- Judging is on you, not the app, so in-jokes and near-misses can count.
Tips
- Answer the “about you” questions honestly and specifically. Vague truths make guessing impossible.
- Be generous when judging, then argue about it on the call anyway.
- Run it once a week. The questions rotate through a large pool and the score builds a history you can look back at.
